I few things I’ve been reading lately on the old web – from horror movies to body image to climate control.

Whalesong, or This Body is Mine

There’s a lot here to relate to. A sad but ultimately satisfying long read about one woman accepting herself as she is. God knows it’s one of the hardest thing any of us have to try and do in life.

‘Jennifer’s Body’ 10 Years Later: How Karyn Kusama’s Feminist Revenge Film Was Ahead of Its Time

Bloody Disgusting author Bethany Wilson revisits Jennifer’s Body 10 years on and praises it for being ahead of its time. Jill and I reviewed it a few years back and apparently I underappreciated it too.

Seems a good time for a rewatch, what with 31 Horrors 2019 coming up and all…

Instagram vs reality: how filtering photos could be causing memory loss

Who knows about the science behind this but it’s an interesting idea. Wait, what was I saying? JK.

I don’t find the part about self-image particularly shocking, let’s face it – who doesn’t feel like shit when comparing themselves to all the beauties on their feed? That’s why you have to have a trim every now and again, and ditch the people who don’t nourish your life. I’m afraid even lovely Emily Ratajkowski had to go.

Greta Thunberg’s Activism Helps Other Autistic Women See Themselves

This girl is something else and she deserves every bit of praise coming her way. Screw the haters.

‘Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire’ Struggles to Live up to its Origins

I’m a massive fan of 2015’s Hell House LLC and, though the follow up wasn’t incredible, it still gave me enough to be excited about the third installment. IMDB has this to say about the plot:

The Abaddon Hotel will once again be open to the public. Russell Wynn has taken his audience-interactive show, Insomnia, into the abandoned hotel that is rumored to be haunted.

Ooooh! Since it was released on September 19 maybe I’ll find it and watch it this weekend.
